Daniel from Olympia, United StatesVery nice. I'd consider increasing the contrast some. 27 Dec 2006 5:14am @Daniel: thanks daniel - i'm a bit tentative with the contrast after seeing some images on another monitor and being surprised at how much they differed from what i had seen on my own. beautiful image from you again today Evelyn from New Milford, United StatesAmazing simplicity and excellent form. Caught my eye right away in the community mosaic, and upon further examination, it holds up. 27 Dec 2006 6:34am Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumgreat minimalist shot - I agree with Evelyn - caught my eye too! 27 Dec 2006 10:31am Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesYes, simple but to the point! I would leave this just like it is. Beautiful! 27 Dec 2006 11:26am Paul Ricciardi from West Hartford, United StatesVery nice, simple and beautiful. 27 Dec 2006 1:59pm MnX from PARIS, FranceThe photo is really nice, I wonder about this contrast thing... How many monitors are well calibrated? I would say, not a lot. I didn't calibrate even one monitor in my life (ok hasn't really a great interest with my colorblindness). I remember one do watching a photo from my home monitor and then from my work... It was a scary eyes openner... not the same mood at all, after using some time to give the photo the right tone.. it's quite frustrating :p. 27 Dec 2006 3:08pm Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanIts a beautiful shot John. The calibration issue is a bit of a nightmare and Im not sure myself which is the recognized standard but hang on, I do recall Damon posting something about it...hang on...cant find it. maybe he'll remember if he comes visiting...DAMON...what were those calibration standards for PC's and Macs? Cheers Damon! Cracking shot John. 27 Dec 2006 3:46pm @Duncan Galbraith: cheers Duncan! i guess if it's pretty close on the majority of monitors it's as good as you can hope for, but it is a bit frustrating for sure .. Stu from Kyoto, Japanlovely shot jc. very tranquil scene mate. contrast looks fine on my monitor. 27 Dec 2006 3:57pm Matt Trujillo Photography from Portland, United StatesWell done. Wall-calendar worthy. Cheers. 28 Dec 2006 1:28am Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaOh, hello! Did I hear my name? Wonderful minimalist shot! The contrast looks fine on my monitor so therefore it should be fine for everyone ;-) Seriously though, calibration is difficult, not to do really (although the built-in tools in Mac OS are pretty good, and way better than what Adobe provides for Windows) but mostly because no matter how careful you are, most people aren't. I'm shocked how dark some people keep their monitors, but the key is that that's what they're used to so chances are they won't complain about your photo being dark. I keep my monitor calibrated for PC gamma 2.2 (which is most common), and in Photoshop, I always set the View menu to "Proof for Monitor" when I'm working on Am3 images. 30 Dec 2006 3:46pm |
